Experts recommend waiting until a day or two after your missed period. If your menstrual cycle is usually irregular, you may want to wait four or five days.

Sexually transmitted infections are more common than you think. Many do not have symptoms, but if left untreated, they could cause significant health concerns later. If you are sexually active, you should be treated for STIs. We can provide referrals.

A late period and a positive pregnancy test may not be enough information about your pregnancy. You need an ultrasound to get the pregnancy information you need. An ultrasound tells you:

  • If your pregnancy is growing or if you have miscarried. Because it takes your body time to return to pre-pregnancy hormone levels after a miscarriage, you could get a positive pregnancy test afterward.
  • How far along you are. The gestational age of your pregnancy is significant if you are considering abortion. The FDA only approves the use of abortion drugs through 10 weeks of pregnancy.
  • The location of your pregnancy. If your pregnancy is not located correctly, you run the risk of a life-threatening complication known as an ectopic pregnancy.

You do have two other options: making an adoption plan and parenting. Today’s adoptions give the expectant mother the freedom to choose the adoptive parents who will raise her child and the potential future she wants for them. We can provide you with referrals to reputable adoption organizations. If you choose to parent, we will assist you with education, material items, and referrals for many community services.

Life Light does not perform or refer for abortions.
