What Should I Know About Parenting?

Is anyone ever ready to be a parent? Parenting is a difficult job, but it is truly one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. The good news is you do not have to do it alone.

Many women don’t consider the option to parent because they feel they won’t have the resources and support they would need. Today though, there are more resources than ever before for women who choose to parent independently.

Knowing if Parenting is Right for You

As you consider parenting, ask yourself these questions:

  • What if my partner or spouse does not want the baby but I do?
  • How will I tell my family and friends?
  • Will I have a support system?
  • Am I too young?
  • How will I support myself and my child?
  • How will I finish school?
  • Can I continue working?
  • Where will I live?
  • Will I have to give up my dreams and goals?

We want to help you work through these questions and others. Being a good parent has nothing to do with whether you planned on getting pregnant or not. Parenting may not have been in your life’s plan right now, but it is possible to be a successful parent on your own. Sometimes, just having a few heartfelt conversations with your partner, parents, employers, and others can answer these questions for you.
